It started the Indiana Jones Franchise…it’s ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark.’ Buckle up for some adventure fun in this incredible early eighties classic.
1. Skip the buffet table next time!
Towards the end of filming, almost all of the cast and crew (Harrison Ford included) were sick from food poisoning. It was at this time that Indiana Jones had a fight scheduled against an amazing swordsman. The truth though, is that Harrison Ford was just too sick to perform the fight sequence, so to save a lot of filming while he was nauseated, he instead suggested to Steven Spielberg, that he just ‘shoots the sucker.’ Mr. Spielberg took him up on the offer and with just one bullet, the scene was complete and they eliminated a complex dual and a ton of time filming.
2. Swing for the fences!
There sure was a lot of punching going on in Indiana Jones. Fists were flying! But, of course, people weren’t actually getting hit repeatedly in real life. The way they were able to produce this sound was by hitting a pile of leather jackets with a baseball bat. If you’ve got a baseball (or cricket) bat and some leather jackets, give it a shot and tell us how it worked out!
3. What’s that you’re eating?
Remember how nearly everyone in the cast and crew got sick while filming in Tunisia? Well…everyone except Director Steven Spielberg. Steve believes the only reason he didn’t get sick was because he only ate the food that he brought with him on the shoot. What was it? Tons and tons of cans of Spaghetti O’s. Goodness!
