10. The man of steel!
Richard Donner directed both ‘Superman’ and ‘The Goonies.’ When Sloth comes to the rescue, he rips off his outer shirt, and reveals a Superman T-shirt. This, of course, is a nod to the film that made Richard a household name.
11. And his full name is…
Did you know that One-Eye Willy’s real name is actually William B. Pordobell? Well, at least that’s what the script shared! This last name is actually quite similar to Portobelo, which is a sea port in Panama, the home to many pirates. Perfect!
12. What eight-legged creature are you talking about?
At the very end of the film, the children are surrounded by police and reporters who are asking them about all of their adventures. One of the kids begins to describe ‘fighting a giant octopus.’ In the original theatrical release, the giant octopus scene is removed (although you can sometimes see the scene included when the film is shown on TV).
