1. Chuck it in the bin!
Our main character, Mikey, was played by none other than Sean Astin. At the end of the film, Sean was given the treasure map to keep as a memento. A few years later, his mom Patty Duke (a famous actress herself) found it and thought she had discovered a simple crinkled piece of paper and…threw it in the trash. What a loss, I bet Sean wishes he still had the map to ‘One-Eyed Willy’s Treasure.’
2. Boys will be boys
Who could forget all of the arguing the Fratelli brothers had? They were at each other’s throats! To keep a mother’s discipline realistic, to break them apart, Anne Ramsey was encouraged to hit Robert Davi as hard as she possibly could. She did and boy did it smart!
3. Take two!
To capture their genuine reaction, director Richard Donner didn’t allow any of the cast to see the pirate ship before the scene was shot. The kids were so surprised that even Josh Brolin couldn’t hold back his enthusiasm and swore in excitement. Thus, the scene had to be reshot, sans cussing.
