In 1977, the world was rocked by one of the most popular films of all time. That Film was ‘Star Wars: A New Hope.’ Like us, I bet you’ve seen it countless times, but hopefully some of these facts will be new and surprise you!
1. Aloha, George!
George Lucas, creator of Star Wars, was so sure that his film Star Wars would be a flop that instead of attending the premier, he headed to the tropical island of Hawaii with his buddy Steven Spielberg. It was there in Hawaii that they came up with an idea for a new film featuring a hero called ‘Indiana Jones’ in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark.’
2. %$%#%
Watch your language, R2-D2! In the earliest drafts of the Star Wars script, R2-D2 could speak English (rather than just beeps) and he had some pretty ‘colorful’ language filled with swear words. As we all know, R2-D2’s ability to speak English was removed but many of C-3PO’s reactions to R2-D2’s foul language were left in!
3. Can you hear me now?
Harrison Ford played the famous character, Han Solo. If you remember, during the intercom conversation in the cell block, his speech jumps all over the place. This is because he intentionally didn’t memorize his lines so that it would all sound more spontaneous. Mission accomplished!
